Niche Marketing is about finding a particular subject then searching within that subject to find the most specific group of people to market to as possible. However, the niche group must be a potentially profitable one. This something new marketers either overlook or don’t understand how to research.
It is very enticing to look for a wider niche in a market in hopes of attracting more visitors to your website or blog. Regrettably, this has been proven to have the contradictory effect. The problem is that the “take all comers” approach is not very successful by and large as a marketing strategy; marketing becomes pricey when everyone is a prospective customer. In a broad market most of the visitors are not going too interested in what you have to offer.

To dominate a niche you need to first fully understand exactly what a niche is. In the simplest terms a niche is a targeted portion of a market that you focus on. This means that a business that focuses on a niche market is creating a solution be it a needed product or service that is not being addressed by typical businesses. A niche market is in fact a narrowly defined group of potential consumers of your product or service.

Niche markets, when identified can result in a highly profitable business model. As not all entrepreneurs are looking to get into these sometimes small ventures. So lets look at some examples.
One of the most successful independent publishing companies in business today is that of Dan Poynter, author of an how-to book on hang-gliding. Too narrow a market? You might think so, but it didn’t turn out that way. Dan sold tens of thousands of his self-published hang-gliding books under his own Para Publishing imprint.
